Challenging the existing notion on vintage clothing, KUON revitalizes traditional Japanese fabrics and re-purposes these rich materials and fabrics for the modern-day.
The Pleated Tapered Trousers from KOUN are an instant favourite and sure to be a go-to over the months ahead. These are cut in Japan from a blend of cotton & washi in Japan.
Washi – literally ‘Japanese paper’ – is made from three different plants: Kozo, mitsumata & Ganpe the long fibres of which create incredibly durable papers. With a 1500-year old history, the largest washi-making area in Japan is a cluster of five villages in Echizen in Fukui Prefecture.
These trousers feature a double pleated front with a relaxed fit and slightly tapered leg. A zip fly had been paired with two slanted pockets & two rear welted pockets.
